The Lincolnshire Domesday and the Lindsey Survey
Lincolnshire Domesday and the Lindsey Survey
Edited by Translated and Edited by C.W. Foster, M.A., F.S.A., Canon of Lincoln and Vicar of Timberland and Thomas Longley, M.A., Canon of Lincoln and Rector of Conisholme.
This is the oldest volume still in print and one of the easiest of the many editions of Domesday to use. Appendix II contains a comprehensive list of medieval place names including those that do not appear in Domesday. The English text includes the modern spelling of the place-names and other insertions to make the entries more easily understood. There are explanatory footnotes on most pages.
