Letters of the Cholmeleys at Wainfleet, 1813-1853
Letters of the Cholmeleys at Wainfleet 1813-1853
Edited by Collected and Edited by Guy Hargreaves Cholmeley
This chronicle was not intended to be a family history. Its object was and is to make easy to read some family letters and to help a reader to identify persons, places, and events mentioned in them.
The letters which cover the years 1813 to 1874 come from three sources-the family of Stephen the eldest of the Rev. Robert Cholmeley’s nine sons, that of Mountague his third son, and that of Maria the eldest of his six daughters, including some preserved by his eighth son Humphrey.
At the end are six pedigrees. Without the first four-and even with them-the reader might get lost in an impenetrable maze.
